Subject: Grants for conservation projects & education
Hi, folks,
I'm sending this message to neighborhood associations to let you know of
three new funding programs that East Multnomah Soil and Water
Conservation District has set up to support natural resource
conservation projects and education. You may already have heard about
one or two of these programs. There have been a few changes to some of
the guidelines and/or application forms that were sent out a couple of
weeks ago, so it's worth your time downloading the latest information.
More detailed information, including guidelines and application forms,
is on our website. Go to:
http://www.emswcd.org/conservation/page/cost_share_and_other_financial_a
ssistance/
or contact me: Eann Rains, Partner Assistance & Contracts Coordinator,
503-222-7645 x 104 or eann.rains at or.nacdnet.net.
Please note: These programs focus on work that is conducted within the
District's boundaries, which include all of Multnomah County east of the
Willamette River.
To figure out which of our programs might fit a given project or event,
please contact me. I'll be happy to talk with you about your project
idea and walk you through the application process.
Partners in Conservation (PIC): grants for conservation projects and
conservation education. Eligible: nonprofit organizations, educational
institutions, government agencies, Native American tribes, and
businesses/commercial property owners. This program has a two-step
application process (pre-application and full application) and requires
50% matching funds. Deadline for Pre-Applications is March 1, 2007.
Small Projects and Community Events (SPACE) program: grants of up to
$1000 for conservation projects, conservation education, and community
events that promote natural resource conservation. Projects must be
within the District; education and events may take place outside of the
District but must benefit citizens of the District. Eligible: nonprofit
organizations, volunteer groups, educational institutions, government
agencies, and Native American tribes. Applications are taken any time
but should be submitted at least 45 days before the date of the
project/event. It's a simple, one-page application.
Conservation Landowners Incentive Program (CLIP): cost-share assistance
to private landowners, up to 50% or 75% of the cost of conservation
projects (percentage depends on the practice). Landowners/managers must
accept District technical assistance on the planning and/or
implementation of the funded practices. Eligible: small acreage
landowners, hobby farmers, small woodlot owners, commercial farms,
nurseries, and homeowner/neighborhood associations. Other landowners
and managers are also eligible; call if you have questions. The first
step in the application process is to call or send a letter requesting
assistance, which will be followed up by District staff.
I encourage folks to check out our website, download the materials on
the programs they're interested in, and call or email me with any
questions. I'll be happy to help.
Thanks for your help in getting the word out about these programs!
