Hi Albert - I usually do face painting at Fremont Fest every year, I
have all the supplies and would be glad to do it for the picnic as well.

Hello Beaumont Wilshirian! Here is a note that I just sent out to our
Board tonight about the upcoming neighborhood picnic. If there is a
part you would be willing to play, please let me know ASAP. As you can
see below, we have a few holes to fill - we could use some coolers, some
grills, someone to host a veggie cutting party the night before the big
event - or at the picnic itself... And a few pickup trucks to move
tables and chairs from the 1st United Methodist Church to Wilshire park
on 8/1 at 5pm, would be especially helpful.

Thank you for your help, and I look forward to seeing you in the Park on
August 1st!

Albert Kaufman
President
Beaumont Wilshire Neighborhood Association

Hello everyone, thanks for a great meeting the other night and for all
of your volunteering spirit. There are still a few roles to fill, and
I'm hoping that through reading this e-mail you'll get a picture of
who's doing what and what still needs doing.

By the way, I'm writing to you from Foxfire Teas. They've taken to
having live music on certain nights. Tonight there is this incredible
gypsy jazz band accompanying me... I live a nice life. A sip of tea and
... Here we go!

Beaumont Wilshire Neighborhood Association Picnic, August 1st 6:30-8:30.

Roles

The Board voted for expenditures up to $600 for the picnic. Board
members will purchase the items below and then approach Jim Karlock for
reimbursement.

BWNA Banner: Heidi, do you know where this is? Can it be brought to the
picnic?

Signboard: Roger is working to have the picnic announced on the Beaumont
Wilshire school signboard

Music: David de la Rocha and friends will perform. I may perform
(Albert) if need be

Camp Counselors from Camp Lutherwood will be on hand to lead the
children in outdoor games

Face Painting: we agreed to pay someone $30 to do face-painting for a
couple of hours.

Food: Jim is buying the buns;
we're counting on people from the n'hood to bring salads and deserts;
Roger is buying the Pop and Water to be delivered to the church
(Bethany) before the event;
Dennis is picking up meat and garden burgers;
David Whitaker: Veggies for burgers - onions, lettuce, tomatoes - we
still need someone to host a chopping party on the night before the
event - takers?
David Whitaker is contacting Odwalla about having them donate juice or
bars...

Grills: Dennis and Ankist both offered to bring their grills. We could
use 1-2 more.

Prizes/Raffle: David Whitaker is taking care of this, Albert to prepare
a sign-in sheet

Garbage: Albert has a call in to the folks who do this every year

Contacting electeds to invite them: Albert

Coolers: a couple were offered, but we could use more - best to have
them arrive on site by 5:30pm on the night of the event, perhaps with
some ice within

Supplies: paper plates/utensils - someone offered to purchase these, but
I don't have it written down. Can you write to me directly, if you were
the person who volunteered for this task? Thanks.

Tables/Chairs: Ankist has volunteered to be at the 1st United Methodist
Church by 5pm on 8/1 to coordinate the moving of the tables and chairs.
All hands/pick-up trucks will be welcome. I will also put out a notice
to our BWNA list to ask for help. If you are available at that time,
even just to help move things, please show up at the church or park to
help.

Again, thanks to everyone for stepping forward on Monday night. I'm
looking forward to another great neighborhood picnic. I will be at the
1st United Methodist Church to help Ankist and friends move tables and
chairs from 5 on on 8/1 and I really would like to see people step up to
the plate in and fill in the other roles that have yet to be taken - if
each of us takes a piece of this, it should be very easy and fun. And,
I hope you'll all stick around till it's over to help with clean-up.

Thanks, everyone.

Albert

PS - if I forgot someone or something, can you just write me directly,
and I'll send this out with corrections at the beginning of next week.
